The long-awaited transformation of Vienna's Wiedner Hauptstraße is nearing completion, with the official reopening set for Saturday.

The extensive renovation, which included replacing 1.2 kilometers of tram tracks, aims to improve public transport efficiency and accessibility.

New tracks will allow trams to operate faster and more punctually, while extended platforms enhance accessibility for passengers with strollers or wheelchairs.

Additionally, a new two-way bike path has been introduced, promoting safer cycling.

Despite some delays due to unforeseen weather conditions, the project is almost finished, with a celebratory event planned for December 4th.

The total cost of the project is 16 million euros, with significant investments in both track and street infrastructure.
