A tragic climbing accident occurred in Walchsee, Tirol, where a 48-year-old woman fell to her death while navigating the "Bergkamerad" via ferrata.

Despite being well-equipped, she was not secured to the steel cable at a critical point, leading to a 100-meter fall.

Her 29-year-old companion, who witnessed the fall, was unharmed and rescued by helicopter.

Emergency services, including mountain rescue and police, responded swiftly, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of her failure to secure herself remains unclear, as investigations continue.
