A tragic accident occurred in the Tyrolean Oberland on Thursday when a 36-year-old local man fell 100 meters to his death during a mountain hike.
The man had set out early in the morning from Straßberghaus in Telfs, heading towards the Karkopf peak.
He last spoke to his girlfriend around 7 a.
m.
, promising to call her again upon reaching the summit.
When he failed to make contact by 11 a.
m.
, his girlfriend reported him missing.
A police helicopter search ensued, and his body was discovered in a steep ravine, having fallen over extremely rugged terrain.
The deceased was airlifted from the site by helicopter.
This incident highlights the dangers of mountain hiking in challenging terrains.
