A tragic incident occurred on Monday in Köflach, Styria, where a 101-year-old woman was struck by a car in a supermarket parking lot.
The accident happened around 1:30 PM when a 45-year-old driver, who was later found to be under the influence of alcohol, attempted to back out of her parking space.
The elderly woman was lightly touched by the vehicle, causing her to fall and sustain injuries.
She was airlifted to Graz Accident Hospital by the Christophorus 12 rescue helicopter.
Although her condition was initially stable, she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries the following day.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death, and the driver's license has been revoked due to the incident.
