A tragic car accident occurred in St.
Egyden am Steinfeld, Lower Austria, on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old passenger.
The 21-year-old driver, reportedly speeding, lost control of the vehicle on LB26, causing it to veer off the road and slide 200 meters through a ditch before crashing into the wall of the Johanneskapelle.
The young passenger was trapped inside and could not be saved despite rescue efforts.
The driver and another 17-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.
In a separate incident that same day in the Melk district, a 69-year-old woman died after losing control of her vehicle while another car was attempting to overtake her.
