A tragic car accident occurred in Nechnitz, Styria, resulting in the death of a 67-year-old man.

The incident took place on the L352 road in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The driver lost control of his vehicle in a long right-hand curve, veering off the road into a wooded area and colliding with several trees.

Despite the swift response from emergency services, including four volunteer fire brigades and mountain rescue teams, the driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

A 46-year-old passenger was airlifted to LKH Graz hospital with injuries.

Initial investigations suggest that the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The police are continuing their investigation into the exact cause of the crash.
