A tragic motorcycle accident occurred on Sunday afternoon on the B21 near Mariazell, in the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district of Styria.

A 72-year-old motorcyclist, traveling towards Mariazell, misjudged a right-hand curve and veered into the opposite lane.

This resulted in a head-on collision with a 43-year-old female motorcyclist, who was part of a couple riding in the opposite direction.

The man died at the scene, while the woman sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to the University Clinic in St.

Pölten.

Immediate first aid and resuscitation efforts were initiated by other road users until emergency services arrived.

Both riders were thrown from their motorcycles upon impact, and subsequent tests confirmed that neither was under the influence of alcohol.
