A tragic workplace accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Knittelfeld, Styria, where a 32-year-old man was fatally injured while operating a tractor.

The incident happened around 2 PM as the man was pressing straw into bales.

He became trapped in the rear part of the attached baler under unclear circumstances.

A nearby worker, mowing grass, noticed the tractor had not moved for some time and went to investigate, discovering the man pinned inside.

Despite the rapid response of emergency services, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

A dog was found in the tractor's cabin and was cared for by firefighters until it could be safely handed over.
