A 48-year-old farmer tragically lost his life in a work accident on Sunday morning in Grundlsee, Liezen district.
While mowing a steep slope with a scythe, he slipped and fell onto the blade, suffering severe cuts to his thigh.
Despite immediate first aid from a neighbor and the swift arrival of emergency services, including two doctors and a rescue helicopter, the farmer succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The incident highlights the inherent dangers of agricultural work, even with seemingly harmless tools.
The farmer's family is receiving support from a crisis intervention team.
