A tragic drowning incident occurred on Friday afternoon at Lake Wolfgangsee, near St.

Wolfgang in the Salzkammergut region.

A 24-year-old Turkish man, residing in Styria, was swimming with two friends when he went missing.

His friends, after briefly leaving the water, could not locate him and alerted authorities.

A large-scale search operation was launched, involving rescue teams, firefighters, police, and helicopters.

Divers eventually found the man ten meters from the shore at a depth of five meters.

Despite efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the drowning remains unknown, and a crisis intervention team provided support to the victim's friends and family on site.
