Spring Brings Unseasonal Warmth to Austria

Published: 2025-03-02

Austria is experiencing an unusually warm start to spring, with temperatures climbing to levels rarely seen this time of year.

Thanks to high-pressure systems "Heltraut" and "Ingeborg," the country is basking in extended sunshine and mild weather.

By midweek, temperatures are expected to reach up to 17°C in Graz, and some regions may even hit 20°C by Thursday or Friday.

This follows a winter that was 1.3°C warmer than average and exceptionally dry, with some areas receiving up to 80% less precipitation.

Snowfall was also significantly below normal, with low-altitude regions seeing 90% less snow than usual.

Meteorologists predict up to 11 hours of sunshine daily in the coming week, making it a perfect time to enjoy the outdoors.

However, the unseasonal warmth raises concerns about climate trends and water reserves.
