Starting December 15, 2024, Austria will see significant enhancements in its rail services with the introduction of new night train routes.
The private railway company Westbahn will launch its first night train service between Vienna and Salzburg, departing shortly after midnight and arriving in Salzburg at 2:42 AM.
This marks a significant milestone as it is the first train on the new Westbahn route following disruptions caused by severe flooding.
Simultaneously, the ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways) will introduce a new night service on the S80 line in Vienna, operating every 30 minutes on weekends and nights before holidays.
This service aims to improve connectivity across the city, providing a vital link between Hütteldorf and Aspern Nord.
These changes are part of a broader effort to enhance regional and local train services, especially after the Westbahn line's recovery from flood damage.
