On Sunday evening, a car fire in the Katschberg tunnel on the Tauern highway led to the evacuation of 170 people.
The vehicle, driven by a 39-year-old Serbian man, was fully engulfed in flames when emergency services arrived.
Fortunately, the driver managed to pull over to a safety area and evacuate himself and his passengers.
Firefighters worked quickly to guide occupants of surrounding vehicles to safety through the tunnel's emergency exits.
Amid the chaos, two soldiers from the Austrian Armed Forces, Winfried Kautz and Karl Watschinger, helped calm the situation by entertaining evacuees with music from a harmonica.
Both tunnel tubes were closed for several hours, causing significant traffic delays, but thankfully, no injuries were reported.
