On August 3, 2024, the Tauern Autobahn (A10) in Salzburg faced significant traffic disruptions due to multiple vehicle fires.
The first incident occurred early in the morning when a small truck caught fire at the Pongau junction, leading to a complete shutdown of the highway for three hours.
Firefighters from Werfen and Pfarrwerfen responded quickly, but the vehicle was completely destroyed.
Later that day, another vehicle fire added to the chaos, causing delays of up to two hours and a traffic jam stretching over 10 kilometers.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either incident, but the combination of these fires created a challenging situation for travelers on one of the region's busiest routes.
