The Austrian Parliament has voted to lift the immunity of four members of the right-wing Freedom Party (FPÖ), including its leader Herbert Kickl, allowing legal investigations to proceed.
Kickl is under suspicion for allegedly making false statements during a parliamentary inquiry related to his tenure as Interior Minister.
Meanwhile, FPÖ members Martin Graf, Norbert Nemeth, and Harald Stefan face allegations of violating laws against Nazi re-engagement by participating in a funeral where a controversial song was sung.
The decision to lift their immunity was supported by all parties except the FPÖ, which claims the move is politically motivated.
FPÖ representatives argue that the song in question has historical versions unrelated to Nazi ideology.
The controversy has also embroiled National Council President Walter Rosenkranz, who is accused of delaying the processing of the immunity lift requests, a claim he denies.
