Kickl Faces Legal Battle Over Alleged Lies

The Austrian Economic and Corruption Prosecutor's Office (WKStA) has requested the extradition of FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl to investigate allegations of false testimony.

The accusations stem from a parliamentary inquiry into "red-blue power abuse," where Kickl is said to have lied about his connections to the Klagenfurt advertising agency Ideenschmiede and his relationship with former FPÖ member Hans-Jörg Jenewein.

The request for extradition was confirmed by the office of National Council President Walter Rosenkranz.

The FPÖ has rejected the extradition request, claiming it is a political maneuver against Kickl.

The decision now lies with the Immunity Committee and the National Council, which will determine whether Kickl's parliamentary immunity will be lifted to allow the investigation to proceed.
