A major police operation unfolded in Wiener Neustadt on Monday evening, targeting organized drug-related crime.

The Neunkirchner Straße and Broditschgasse were cordoned off, with residents advised to stay indoors.

The operation, confirmed by police spokesperson Johann Baumschlager, involved the elite Cobra unit searching for a suspect in a vacant building, formerly the Altstadt-Passage.

The search was prompted by unusually high electricity bills, suggesting the presence of an illegal cannabis plantation.

During the operation, a firearm was secured, and drones with thermal imaging were deployed to locate the suspect, who had fled into the building.
