In a concerted effort to combat crime in Vienna, police launched a large-scale operation over the weekend, deploying 170 officers to address youth crime, ethnic conflicts, and illegal street racing.
The operation, which took place in various locations across the city, included traffic checks and inspections of local venues.
Notably, the police utilized drones to enhance their surveillance capabilities.
During the night, authorities conducted 485 breathalyzer tests, resulting in 450 traffic violations and the confiscation of 11 driver's licenses.
Additionally, there were 200 identity checks, leading to five arrests and the seizure of illegal drugs.
Mayor Michael Ludwig emphasized the need for more police personnel to ensure public safety, as the city continues to face challenges related to gang violence and youth delinquency.
