Austria Cracks Down on Neo-Nazi Network

Published: 2024-09-27

In a significant operation against right-wing extremism, Austrian authorities dismantled a neo-Nazi network suspected of illegal trading in Nazi memorabilia.

Coordinated by the Directorate for State Protection and Intelligence (DSN) and supported by Europol, the operation involved 18 house searches across nine federal states.

Authorities seized hundreds of Nazi relics, weapons, and data carriers, and questioned 20 suspects, including one woman.

The network allegedly used an instant messaging service to trade Nazi symbols and propagate Nazi ideology.

The operation, praised by Interior Minister Gerhard Karner and Justice Minister Alma Zadić, underscores Austria's commitment to combating extremism.

Investigations are ongoing, with authorities urging the public to report suspicious activities.
