A major police operation in Austria has led to the arrest of 18 individuals suspected of committing hate crimes against LGBTQ+ individuals.
The suspects, aged between 14 and 26, allegedly targeted victims through online platforms, luring them to isolated locations where they were subjected to abuse, robbery, and even attempted murder.
The group, operating under the guise of vigilante justice, falsely accused their victims of pedophilia.
The raids, involving 400 officers across multiple regions, uncovered weapons, Nazi memorabilia, and other evidence linking the suspects to far-right extremism.
At least 17 victims have been identified, but authorities believe there may be more.
The operation highlights a troubling rise in hate crimes against LGBTQ+ individuals in Austria, with activists urging victims to come forward and report incidents.
The Austrian government has praised the police for dismantling this violent network, emphasizing the need to combat hate-driven violence in society.
