A coordinated anti-terror operation in Austria has dismantled a suspected fundraising network for the Islamic State (IS).

On Thursday, law enforcement conducted simultaneous raids across five states, targeting a group of nine individuals, including eight men and one woman of Chechen origin.

They are accused of collecting donations under the guise of charity to finance terrorist activities.

The operation involved 186 police officers and resulted in the seizure of numerous mobile phones, laptops, a fake passport, and a significant amount of cash.

One suspect was arrested, while the others were released pending further investigation.

Authorities emphasize that these networks exploit social media to recruit and fundraise, often without donors realizing their contributions support terrorism.
