A tragic accident on the B17 near Sollenau in Lower Austria claimed two lives on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash involved a truck and two cars, with a 64-year-old driver reportedly veering into the opposite lane and colliding with the truck.

The impact caused the truck to hit a concrete barrier and swerve back into oncoming traffic, leading to another collision with a 51-year-old driver.

Both car drivers died at the scene, while the 56-year-old truck driver sustained serious injuries.

Emergency services, including the Red Cross and local firefighters, worked tirelessly to clear the wreckage, which continued into the evening.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
