A doctor at Klinikum Kirchdorf in Upper Austria is under investigation following the deaths of two patients under suspicious circumstances.

The patients, both men, reportedly received fatal overdoses of medication.

The first patient, over 60 years old, passed away days ago and has already been cremated, while the second, over 80, died on Friday evening.

Authorities have ordered an autopsy and toxicological tests for the second case.

The hospital raised concerns during a routine morning meeting, prompting the involvement of the State Criminal Office.

The doctor, described as experienced, has been removed from duty but remains free as investigations into possible negligent homicide continue.

The hospital has pledged full cooperation with authorities.
