Heavy snowfall in Tyrol has led to the temporary closure of the Arlberg Pass road, stranding numerous drivers.
The Arlberg Tunnel, which is undergoing a major renovation, was briefly opened to allow these drivers to pass through safely.
This decision was made by the highway operator Asfinag, with police overseeing the process to ensure safety.
The tunnel, a crucial link between Tyrol and Vorarlberg, is set to officially reopen on November 22, just in time for winter.
The renovation, which has been ongoing since April, is now complete, much to the relief of project manager Tobias Wolf.
Meanwhile, the snowfall has also resulted in chain requirements for vehicles in certain areas, although conditions are expected to improve as the day progresses.
