A severe thunderstorm on Wednesday evening caused a mudslide in Stuben, Vorarlberg, burying the Arlbergstraße (B197) and making it temporarily impassable.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
This incident has disrupted the second main traffic route between Tyrol and Vorarlberg, which is already affected by the closure of the Arlbergtunnel for renovations.
The mudslide, triggered by 30 liters of rain in less than half an hour, also entered the Passürtunnel, complicating the situation further.
Traffic is currently being redirected through Lech, Warth, and the Bregenzerwald, while cleanup efforts are underway.
Experts are assessing whether the Passürtunnel can be reopened soon, with further discussions scheduled for later today.
