On Monday evening, heavy rainfall in Steiermark, Austria, triggered multiple mudslides, severely impacting the Mur and Mürztal regions.
The most dramatic incident occurred on the B115 road near Laurenti in the Leoben district, where seven cars were trapped in 30 to 50 centimeters of mud and debris.
The passengers were unable to open their doors due to the mudslide's force, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Emergency services, including the Vordernberg Volunteer Fire Department, worked tirelessly with local authorities and a logging company to free the trapped individuals using heavy machinery.
The operation concluded successfully by 3 AM.
A geologist is set to assess the area, which has experienced similar incidents twice this year, to understand the recurring mudslide issues.
