A tragic accident occurred in Hernals, Vienna, on Tuesday evening, resulting in the death of a 22-year-old e-scooter rider.

The young man was traveling on Geblergasse towards Wattgasse when he collided with a tram at the intersection with Rosensteingasse around 7:30 PM.

Despite immediate medical attention from emergency services, he suffered severe head injuries and later died in the hospital.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the rider may have disregarded traffic rules, leading to the collision.

The tram driver is reportedly in shock and receiving support from crisis intervention services.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
