The 79th Villacher Kirchtag, Austria's largest traditional festival, kicked off successfully on July 28, 2024, attracting around 400,000 visitors.
The event began with a high mass at the city parish church and a ceremonial beer tapping at the town hall square, led by local dignitaries.
Despite a brief rainstorm, the festivities continued, with guests enjoying traditional dishes like Kirchtag soup and a variety of beers, although prices have risen significantly, with a large beer costing up to €7.50 this year.
The festival features a vibrant program, including culinary delights from the Styrian region and Italian specialties, alongside thrilling amusement rides that opened on the third day.
The Kirchtag runs until August 4, promising fun and cultural experiences for all attendees.
