The small Austrian community of Breitenstein is mourning the tragic death of its mayor, Engelbert Rinnhofer, who passed away in a tractor accident on Thursday.

The 52-year-old, who had just been re-elected days earlier, lost control of his vehicle while trying to avoid a silver car on a narrow road.

His tractor overturned and fell into a stream, pinning him beneath.

Despite rapid emergency response, Rinnhofer could not be saved.

The police are now seeking the driver of the silver car, believed to be connected to the incident.

Rinnhofer, who served as mayor since 2010, was deeply respected for his dedication to the community.

Tributes have poured in, with local leaders and residents expressing their grief over the loss of a beloved leader and friend.
