A fire broke out in a residential building in Vienna-Favoriten on Friday afternoon, caused by two burning strollers in the stairwell.

The incident led to a major emergency response, with 37 people requiring medical attention and five hospitalized.

Thick smoke from the fire trapped residents, prompting firefighters to evacuate them using ladders and escape masks.

Pets, including a cat and five birds, were also rescued.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but investigators are now working to determine the cause of the blaze.

The building's stairwell was ventilated, and the remains of the strollers were removed.
