The newly formed FPÖ-ÖVP coalition in Steiermark has announced ambitious plans following their first government retreat.

Facing a significant €900 million budget deficit, the government aims to consolidate finances by 2030, with immediate measures to address the shortfall.

Among the key proposals is the likely removal of the "Luft-Hunderter," a situational speed limit aimed at reducing emissions, sparking criticism from environmentalists.

Additionally, a new payment card system for asylum seekers, modeled after Lower Austria, will replace cash allowances.

The coalition also plans to tighten regulations on begging and introduce a deregulatory law to streamline bureaucracy.

These measures, part of a broader seven-point agenda, reflect the government’s focus on fiscal discipline, migration, and deregulation.
