In a bid to promote sustainable mobility and support local businesses, the city of Salzburg is offering free public transport on all four Advent Saturdays this year.
This initiative, costing the city approximately 100,000 euros, allows residents and visitors to travel without charge on all bus and train lines within the Salzburg Transport Association.
Mayor Bernhard Auinger emphasizes that this measure encourages people to leave their cars at home, facilitating enjoyable and safe visits to markets and shops.
Additionally, it aims to strengthen local commerce and make family and friend visits more accessible during the festive season.
Auinger also hints at more such initiatives in the future to further enhance public transport usage.
