A court in Wels, Austria, has acquitted a 61-year-old German man accused of making threats that allegedly contributed to the suicide of Dr.
Lisa-Maria Kellermayr in 2022. The judge ruled that there was insufficient evidence to prove a direct causal link between the man's actions and the doctor's decision to take her own life.
While the prosecution argued that the threats exacerbated Kellermayr's distress, the defense maintained that the accused could not have foreseen her vulnerability.
Expert testimony suggested the threats may have played a role, but the court found no definitive proof of causation.
The verdict is not yet final, as the prosecution has not announced whether it will appeal.
