In response to the devastating floods that struck Lower Austria in September, a charity event titled "Mit Herz dabei" has been organized to support affected families.
The event, running from October 23 to 26, encourages participants to engage in activities like running, walking, or hiking, with all entry fees going directly to flood victims.
This initiative, led by Social Councillor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister, aims to provide swift and direct aid to those in need.
Meanwhile, the government of Lower Austria has already disbursed 150 million euros in immediate assistance to 7,000 families, with efforts ongoing to assess and address the extensive damage.
The floods have highlighted the importance of robust flood protection measures, as seen in areas like Lanzenkirchen, where prior investments in infrastructure have proven effective.
The state is also considering budget extensions to ensure continued support for recovery efforts.
