Vienna Secures New Home for Environment Agency

Published: 2024-10-24

The Austrian Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt) will consolidate its operations in a new central location in Vienna by 2026. The agency, which has been operating from four different sites, will move to a renovated building at Erdberger Lände 40, a decision that ends years of debate over a potential relocation to Klosterneuburg.

The move was confirmed by Climate Minister Leonore Gewessler, who emphasized the building's sustainable features, including a photovoltaic system and extensive bicycle parking.

The new site will accommodate up to 800 employees, providing ample space for the agency's growing needs.

This decision aligns with the agency's mission to support sustainable environmental policies and reflects Vienna's commitment to environmental leadership.
