The city of Vienna has announced a significant investment of 700,000 euros to advance research on ME/CFS, also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and Long-Covid.

This initiative aims to address the growing number of individuals affected by post-acute infection syndromes, which have doubled in Austria since 2019, reaching 80,000 cases.

The funding, supported by the WE&ME Foundation and the Vienna Science, Research, and Technology Fund, will back seven selected projects focusing on neurological, immunological, and genetic research.

These projects were chosen from 19 submissions and will receive support for one year.

The goal is to uncover connections and develop strategies to better manage these debilitating conditions, as highlighted by Vienna's Mayor Michael Ludwig.
