Traffic Jams Expected as Autumn Break Begins

Published: 2024-10-25

As the autumn break begins, significant traffic delays are anticipated across Austria and parts of Germany.

In Austria, the National Day on October 26 marks the start of the holidays, coinciding with school breaks in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.

The ÖAMTC warns of heavy traffic, especially on the Brenner and Tauern motorways, exacerbated by ongoing construction.

Meanwhile, mild weather with temperatures over 20 degrees is expected, although fog may be prevalent.

In Germany, the ADAC predicts increased congestion on major highways like the A3, A5, and A7, particularly around urban areas such as Frankfurt and construction zones near Gießen.

With the end of the autumn holidays in several German states, including Hessen and North Rhine-Westphalia, drivers are advised to travel outside peak times, such as Saturday afternoon or early Sunday, to avoid the worst of the traffic.

Travelers are encouraged to plan alternative routes in advance to mitigate delays.
