Severe Weather Disrupts Carinthia Events

Published: 2024-08-01

Severe weather has hit Carinthia, Austria, causing disruptions and minor injuries.

On August 1, the Villacher Kirchtag was temporarily evacuated due to strong winds and heavy rain, although no major incidents were reported.

In Spittal, localized flooding occurred as rain overwhelmed drainage systems.

Earlier, on July 28, a fallen tree injured a 35-year-old driver in Feldkirchen, while other trees damaged homes and power lines across the region.

Emergency services responded to around 100 incidents related to the storms, including rescuing individuals in distress on local lakes.

The situation remains under close observation as authorities continue to monitor the weather conditions.
