The ÖVP-Wirtschaftsbund, led by Andreas Wirth, emerged as the clear winner in the Burgenland Chamber of Commerce elections, securing 75.2% of the votes and 39 seats.
This marks a significant increase from their previous performance.
Meanwhile, the Sozialdemokratischer Wirtschaftsverband (SWV) suffered a major setback, dropping to 12.5% and five seats.
The Freiheitliche Wirtschaft nearly doubled its share to 6.9%, while the Grüne Wirtschaft saw a slight decline to 4.6%.
The newly participating Unos gained two seats with 0.8% of the votes.
Despite the ÖVP's dominance, the election system has faced criticism for its complexity and perceived lack of transparency.
With only 30.3% voter turnout, questions about the system's legitimacy persist.
Wirth credited the victory to hard work and dismissed claims that the SWV's losses were tied to broader political issues.
Calls for reform and greater clarity in the election process continue to grow.
