Bettina Emmerling, the new Vice Mayor and Education Councillor of Vienna, has outlined ambitious plans for the city's education system.
Representing the NEOS party, she emphasized the importance of education as a "future sector" and assured that budget cuts would not affect it.
Key proposals include mandatory summer German courses and a second compulsory kindergarten year to address challenges in diverse urban areas.
The NEOS party is focusing its campaign on honesty, diversity, and equal opportunities for children, with slogans like "Wien ist Vielfalt, nicht Einfalt" (Vienna is diversity, not uniformity).
Emmerling also highlighted the need for reforms in collaboration with the SPÖ, aiming to ensure fairness and better support for schools.
The party's election strategy includes showcasing its leadership team and prioritizing education as a cornerstone of its vision for Vienna.
