Austria's political landscape is on the brink of a significant shift as the ÖVP, SPÖ, and Neos announce their intent to form a coalition government.
Leaders Christian Stocker (ÖVP), Andreas Babler (SPÖ), and Beate Meinl-Reisinger (Neos) confirmed the news to President Alexander Van der Bellen, signaling the final stages of negotiations.
However, the coalition faces criticism from the FPÖ, particularly over proposed budget measures, including a controversial increase in health insurance contributions for pensioners.
FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl has labeled the plans as unfair, arguing they burden pensioners while sparing other groups.
Despite the backlash, the coalition partners remain focused on finalizing their agreement, aiming to present a unified government soon.
