An 11-year-old boy from Lower Austria tragically died in a skiing accident in Wagrain, Salzburg.
The incident occurred on a black slope when the boy lost control, broke through a safety net, and collided with the wall of a ski hut.
Emergency responders managed to resuscitate him, and he was transported to Salzburg University Hospital.
Unfortunately, he succumbed to his severe injuries shortly after.
This accident highlights the dangers of alpine sports, with recent statistics showing 106 fatalities in Austria's mountains during the 2023/24 winter season.
The number of injuries also remains high, emphasizing the need for increased safety measures on the slopes.
