A severe car accident occurred on Sunday evening in Luftenberg, Upper Austria, involving a young family and another driver, resulting in six injuries.
The incident happened when a 27-year-old driver, after overtaking another vehicle, remained on the wrong side of the road and collided head-on with a car carrying a 28-year-old man, his wife, their two young children, and his mother.
The impact was so intense that the 27-year-old's car was thrown over a guardrail and flipped into a wooded area below the road.
Emergency services had to extricate him from the wreckage.
The family’s car was also heavily damaged, leaving the father and his mother seriously injured, while the mother and children sustained minor injuries.
All involved were transported to hospitals in Linz.
Alcohol tests could not be conducted at the scene.
