In the early hours of Sunday, a devastating barn fire broke out on a mountain farm in Kirchberg, Lower Austria, leading to the tragic death of nine cattle.
Despite the complete destruction of the barn, firefighters managed to prevent the flames from spreading to an adjacent residential building.
The challenging operation involved around 120 firefighters, who had to lay a one-kilometer water line to the Marbach to secure enough water for the firefighting efforts.
Fortunately, the majority of the cattle were unharmed as they were grazing in a nearby field at the time of the fire.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, with no human injuries reported.
Firefighters continued to conduct extinguishing operations well into Sunday morning to ensure the fire was fully controlled.
