Swiss Suspect in Austrian Bomb Threats

Published: 2024-10-14

A 20-year-old Swiss man has been identified as the main suspect in a series of bomb threats that have plagued Austria since late September.

These threats, which targeted train stations, schools, and shopping centers across various cities including Vienna, Salzburg, and Graz, led to numerous evacuations and costly police operations.

The suspect, who remains at large in Switzerland, is the subject of a European arrest warrant.

Despite the threats being deemed empty, the financial impact of the police response is significant, with costs estimated at nearly 800,000 euros.

The suspect's motives remain unclear, and Swiss authorities are in close contact with Austrian officials regarding the case.
