Meteorologist Jörg Kachelmann has sharply criticized the ORF Niederösterreich's weather reporting, accusing them of downplaying a severe weather situation.

Kachelmann labeled the broadcasters as "criminals" for their casual approach to a forecast predicting 300 millimeters of rain, which he argues could lead to dangerous flooding.

The ORF's weather report, described as "relatively dull," failed to mention the potential for high water levels, despite the highest flood warnings being issued in several Austrian regions, including Niederösterreich.

The ORF defended its coverage, stating that the severe weather had been a topic across their media platforms for days.

However, Kachelmann insists that the lack of urgency in the broadcast could endanger lives, as preparations for significant flooding are underway in vulnerable areas.
