In a significant development for Austria's metal industry, approximately 200,000 workers will see their wages increase by 4.8% starting November 1st.
This rise, agreed upon last year, surpasses the inflation rate by 1%, effectively boosting real wages.
Apprentices in the sector will benefit from an even higher increase of 5.4%.
Additionally, allowances for night shifts and other compensations will see a rise, with night shift bonuses increasing by 8.16%.
However, a competition clause allows for reduced increases in companies facing economic difficulties, potentially offset by additional leisure time or one-time payments.
This agreement highlights a collaborative effort between unions and employers to balance economic challenges with employee welfare.
