In a startling incident in Friesach, Austria, a 68-year-old hunter fired a shot after mistaking German soldiers for a threat during a military exercise.
The soldiers, part of a joint training operation with the Austrian Bundesheer, were in camouflage when the woman, feeling threatened, discharged her weapon.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
The incident occurred on a Friday evening, and the hunter herself alerted the police.
Authorities have imposed a temporary weapons ban on her while investigations continue to determine whether she aimed at the soldiers or fired into the air.
The exercise, involving 130 soldiers, was officially sanctioned and had been conducted in the region before without incident.
