Severe weather has struck Lower Austria, leading to more than 20 areas being declared disaster zones.
The regions most affected include the districts of Zwettl, Horn, Krems, and Tulln.
Firefighters have been actively responding to numerous emergencies since Friday evening, with mobile flood defenses being set up in several communities, including the Wachau.
The peak water levels are expected mostly by Monday night.
In the Waldviertel region, particularly along the Kamp River, residents are bracing for what is being described as a 100-year flood.
This situation is reminiscent of the devastating floods of 2002, which left many residents traumatized.
The local government has been working tirelessly to mitigate the impact of these historic floods.
