An 18-year-old German hiker living in Salzburg found himself in a precarious situation after losing his way in the Tennengebirge mountains.
The young man embarked on a hike from Pfarrwerfen to the Edelweißhütte, but strayed from the path as darkness fell.
Unable to navigate the rocky terrain, he called his girlfriend, who alerted the authorities.
Thanks to known coordinates, a police helicopter quickly located him.
By 10:45 PM, an emergency helicopter safely airlifted him to the valley using a cable winch.
The rescue operation involved eleven mountain rescuers, an alpine police officer, and two helicopters, ensuring the hiker's safe return.
